Change management is the process of implementing and overseeing necessary transition in an organisation.
These changes can encompass every aspect of the organisation – indeed, one change management theory argues that a real and lasting difference cannot be achieved without a radical change in the management itself.
Managers can start by redefining the purposes of the organisation in the context of fully analysed external change. The next step is to look at internal changes that would be required if those purposes are to be accomplished. Human resources must be dealt with, and that starts at the top.
You must ask whether the new purposes and internal reforms can be accepted and embraced by managers and staff. If they can’t, then more changes are necessary.
