Whatever happened to the virtual company? The dream of ‘hollowing’ organisations so that only the top direction remained has been shown to be just that – a dream. But outsourcing and offshoring have survived in great and growing strength. They may not make management easier, but – if well run - they may well make and keep the business highly competitive in the global age.
