Al Gore was Vice President of the United States of America from 1993 to 2001, serving under Bill Clinton. He was the Democrat presidential nominee in 2000 and was controversially defeated by George W. Bush despite winning the popular vote. Among many business interests he is a director on the board of Apple Inc. and chairman of Current TV. He is also chairman of the Alliance for Climate Protection. Gore's environmental documentary An Inconveient Truth won an Academy Award at the 2006 Oscars.
